The BD Salt Lake City site and BD Sandy site together form BD, Vascular Access Devices, a business group within BD Medical. The BD Salt Lake City site is the headquarters for BD Vascular Access Devices and houses Marketing, R&D, Quality Assurance and Regulatory Affairs. The BD Sandy facility is one of the largest of more than 50 BD manufacturing locations worldwide spanning 600,000 square feet and providing employment for more than 1,000 associates. It supports a network of 10 plants worldwide producing infusion therapy products. Sister plants are located in Brazil, China, India, Korea, Mexico, Singapore, Spain and Sweden. In 1897, Maxwell Becton and Fairleigh Dickinson founded Becton, Dickinson and Company with a vision to improve outcomes for patients. For the century that followed, the company held true to that vision. BD diversified into diagnostics, biosciences and a wide range of medical devices.
